Brief Project Descripiton: This RFP is for the architectural/engineering design only of an addition that is being added to the Florence Schneider Hall. This is a native limestone building that house our Gatton Academy for scholars. This will go out for bid for a general contractor for the construction phase upon completion of this design phase as outlined in the specificationsl This RFP is not for construction.

Western Kentucky University is seeking qualified firms to design an expansion of the current Florence Schneider Hall which houses the Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Sciences. Located in Bowling Green, KY, the main campus covers approximately 205 acres, with additional property in surrounding areas.

The addition and renovation to Florence Schneider Hall will take into account planned improvements under the Campus Master Plan, current and projected student enrollment, currect, and projected capital construction projects, and the distribution of classroom space and use.

Specific Project Description: This project would provide approximately 80 additional beds, administrative, and support spaces. The addition will be approximately 18,000 square feet to the existing 60,000 square foot building. Site infrastructure and improvements will also be accounted for during the project.

The design of this addition would start immediately after the selection process. The plan is to break ground spring of 2015 and reopening the facility in summer of 2016. This project may be a phased project.
