Western Kentucky University is seeking a qualified Architectural/Engineering firm to develop an integrated response to Raymond
Cravens Library/Helm Library Building Envelope Rehabilitation. After the design has been completed, the construction phase will be bid at a later date. Located in Bowling Green, KY, the
main campus covers approximately 205 acres, with additional property in surrounding areas.
The Raymond Cravens Library/Helm Library Building Envelope Rehabililtation will take into account planned improvements under the Campus Master Plan, current and projected student enrollment, current and projected capital construction projects, and the distribution of classroom space and use. The resulting document will contain recommended improvements for both near term and long term
implementation and will quantify the costs associated with those improvements.
Specific Project Description:
The project is a multi-year, multi-phase renovation/replacement including but not limited to the roof systems and building envelope for the Raymond Cravens Library/Helm Library.
RCL is a 9-floor building consisting of a cast-in-place concrete structure with an exterior wall system
constructed of CMU back-up and brick masonry veneer and full building height curtain wall systems. A
pedestrian bridge provides access to the 4th floor of the building and an enclosed two level structured
walkway provides access from RCL to Helm Library. A one-story cast-in-place concrete portico provides
cover for the concrete walkway on the south and southwest elevations.
